ACTION! ACTION! ACTION! email the Trustees

Call To Action for CUSD board mtg February15, 2023

At last month’s board meeting, Trustees Pearson, Vurbeff and Williamson said that the petition signers’ voices (more than 330 signers in less than one week!) should be heard. This is a #WIN.

The DEI Plan will again come before the board February 15. Please take this opportunity to remind all the trustees that we stand united on our goal for the school board to:

Prioritize student learning loss recovery and focus on trustees’ primary goal of offering “a high standard of quality education.” Tutoring and academic supportmust begin immediatelyto help students suffering from 3 years of learning loss. The resources and time spent on the DEI Plan is taking valuable time away from addressing student learning loss.

Click on this link to email all trustees: boardoftrustees with your own personal message, or feel free to copy/modify the above message. Send your email no later than Tuesday, February 14Y.

Our position for excellent education:

  • parents have the right to be involved in their child’s education and know what’s going on in the classroom.
  • our schools should provide a supportive and safe learning environment for all our children.
  • teachers should have smaller class sizes, the necessary tools and other essential resources for successful outcomes (e.g. a desk for each student).
  • Full public disclosure (transparency) of the benefits, costs and risks of any proposed plan. Plans must define measurable outcomes for proper evaluation.
  • Carlsbad already has a successful anti bully program and the DEI Plan would not improve upon that.

Please share this email with your friends in Carlsbad and encourage them to send an email to the trustees.
